Hi guys, I am having two issues with pirate's moon right now. The first one is that the reticule keeps trying to switch between zoom and unzoomed by itself. It doesnt change the gameplay but its kinda annoying. The second one is more serious. Every time i try to use jump jets, my mech falls over and that means I can't complete mission 2 on the campaign.
My dxdiag is this:
*edit*
I just encountered another problem when my mechs fall off a cliff or level, they fall extremely slowly while everything else moves fine around them |

There was an issue with the unstable reticule in MW3. I assume that EOP's
res fix corrected the issue. However, I don't think EOP made a fix for PM.
Looking at your DXDIAG I see that you have an older AGP vid card but the
resolution is 1280x1024. I'd dumb that down to 1024x768 and make sure
the refresh rate is still 60Hz.
Set the in-game res to max and all effects to max. If that doesn't help then
keep the in-game res maxed but reduce all effects to min.
It's a trouble shooting process so please be patient.
I can try to dig up some older video drivers for you too if all of this doesn't help. _________________

Ugh. Work has been seriously eating my face. Anyone who tells you working in game development is a fun and rewarding experience is either insane, to young to know better, or all of the above. -_-
From your description of the issue and the DXDIAG here are some quick questions:
1. Can you tell me what version number is listed when you first start the game? At the Pirate's Moon main menu, look in the lower right
corner and tell me what it says. It should read "MW3 Pirate's Moon 1.0.11.5".
2. I'm not sure how or where you found them but you are running the Forceware 51.16 drivers on your system which were rather infamous for some of the problems they caused after the 3DMark 2003 spat. Can you please update the video card drivers that you are using to the Nforce 93.71 drivers? You may find them at http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_93.71_2.html. Do however be sure to follow the following steps. If you attempt to just install over the previous drivers you could cause yourself more problems than you currently have. The steps are as follows:
a. Go to http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_93.71_2.html and download the driver first; making sure it is on your desktop before yougo onto the next step.
a. Left-click on Start then highlighting the Control Panel left-click again which should open a window.
b. Double left-click on the icon labeled "Add/Remove Programs" and you should see a window open up that lists a LOT of programs and such.
c. Scroll thru the list and find entry labled "NVIDIA Drivers" and double left-click.
d. It will ask you several questions such as "Do you wish to uninstall?" so please say yes to all of these prompts and when finished it should say "Do you wish to restart?". Now at this point once you say yes it should reboot your system.
e. Once your system finishes rebooting double-click on the 93.71 driver on your desktop. Once the driver finishes installing reboot again if it does not prompt you to do so.
Try launching the game again, making sure that your resolution in the Options menu is set to 1024x768, and see if the issue is resolved.
3. If updating your video card driver fails to help make sure that you are not running the game in either Compatibility mode or with any other options set in the shortcut. These can sometimes cause more issues than they help since you are essentially telling the OS to run the game in an emulated environment. Both MW3 and Pirate's Moon should work without having to use these options.
If none of that STILL does not work try these steps:
1. Uninstall the game and make sure that you have no directories or anything left on your drive afterwards.
2. Install the game, with custom options, and everything selected on the option list.
3. Install the 1.2 update for Mechwarrior 3. If you do not have it you may find it at http://www.mechwarrior3.org/wordpress/download-manager.php?id=17
4. Install the EOP 1024 resolution update which you can find at http://www.mechwarrior3.org/wforum/viewtopic.php?t=4217
5. Once updated, and you verify the base game works correctly, then install Pirate's Moon.
From a hardware standpoint from what I can see there is no reason why your system should not be running the game normally. |
