I was driving down a road from our house. My wife and I were riding together but we were arguing terribly. She had neglected something very important which resulted in me being very pissed off. I was very disappointed, even hurt that she had neglected something so very important. It was well within my rights to be angry. However, she wasn’t acknowledging anything… almost to the point of blatantly denying the negligence. Her arguement was that this whole scenario was actually my fault.
There we are in the car driving about 50MPH while we scream obscenities back and forth… spitting in each other’s faces. It was about this time I noticed two birds in a midflight dogfight. One bird was attacking the other… most likely two males and one defending his territory or perhaps a female attacking a male… protecting her nest. Yes, it was a living metaphor for what I was experiencing at the moment. Here is what I noticed in that half a second glance to the right of my car while passing by these birds. They were so focused, so engaged in thier aerial combat that they didn’t even notice our white chevy prizm zooming down the road at 50MPH. The two birds wouldn’t have noticed that their fight was drifting into the middle of my lane. How consumed they were with the battle raging between them that both might die instantly after bouncing off my windshield.
Look at my wife and I again as we argue in the car. Who is to say that a truck or something might pull out into the middle of the road and SPLAT! MIKA and I die in a car accident. We were so enthralled in our arguement that we never would have saw it coming.
How about that for last words, eh?
